Stiwdio Gwellt @ Eisteddfod 2012

Was pleased to be involved as a guest recording engineer along with Charlie Francis, Gethin John and Llion Robertson at Hafod Mastering's Stiwdio Gwellt at the National Eisteddfod 2012. Basically recording acoustic sessions in a studio made entirely from straw bales and turf in the middle of a big muddy field. The recordings can be found here. Many thanks to Donal and Beth Whelan for a lovely time and a constant flow of tea.

Wrongs

Released today, '#1' EP from Wrongs, Cardiff based 'ambient nightmare' duo formerly of King Alexander, IK+ and various others.

Midas Consoles

Visited the Midas HQ in Kidderminster last week to complete CMDU training on the full range of XL8 and Pro consoles. Most enlightening. With the Pro2 and Pro2c having such competitive pricing I think you'll see a lot more of these desks around, especially considering how amazing they sound.

Christmas Session

A live session recorded last monday for Bethan Elfyn's show will be broadcast tonight at 7pm on Amazing Radio. It features live sets from Joshua Caole, Little Arrow, Alex Comana, Under the Driftwood Tree, Evening Chorus and Ceri Frost. 

The evening was filmed by the guys at On Par Productions and the videos should hopefully be available soon.

October 2011

Engineered once again for the Swn Festival. Particular non-local highlights from the venue I was working were, Caves, Pandas and People, Ultra Humanitarian ("does your pa go below 15Hz?"), Holland, Olympians and Math Loop legend Theo.

The tracks completed for Johnny Cage & the Voodoo Groove are now to be included on a forthcoming release. They are out and about on tour during November supporting Alabama3.

Series of demos completed for local band Studio54.

Engineered and mixed a 2 track release for local doom merchants Hunger Artist. The tracks 'Senescense' and 'Magister Ludi' (suitably doomy names) can be downloaded from their Bandcamp page HERE. Definitely the loudest all live tracking session I have done at Musicbox.

The School

Just returned from Madrid after mixing a few shows for The School.

Art Installation

Have recently completed a soundtrack project for the artist Andrew Cooper. The piece is part of the 'Dis-Location' installation currently showing at Newport Museum & Art Galleries through until 10th September 2011 before going on tour.

Early 2011 Update.

Completed a mixing project for Don't Tread on Spiders (now renamed Fjords).

Two acoustic sessions for the BBC with The Blackout and Cloud Nothings.

Finishing an EP for Cardiff based Black Russian.

Spanish return.

Just back from playing with The Loves at the Easy Pop Weekender festival in Andorra, Teruel. 

Present business is completing final tracking for the Don't Tread on Spiders project and final mixing for Possible Tomorrow and Punk's Not Dad.

Silver Gospel Runners

Currently working on mixing a project for Silver Gospel Runners. Part tracked by myself at Musicbox studios and several tracks recorded elsewhere. Also congratulations to Sal from SGR who got married on Saturday.
